Aaron Johnsen, Owner, began working in the turfgrass management industry at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury, MN. After three summers at Eagle Valley, Aaron enrolled at the University of Minnesota where he received a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Horticulture with a Turfgrass Management emphasis and a minor in Business Management. While completing this degree, Aaron participated in two internships at Somerset Country Club in Mendota Heights, MN. He also received many awards including the Minnesota Golf Course Superintendents Association Scholarship and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Mendenhall Award.

In 2006, Aaron interned with The Toro Company's Center for Advanced Turf Technology. In this role, he worked with Toro's research and development group to study soil moisture, plant reflectance, compaction, and topography. During that summer, Aaron also interned with the United States Golf Association Green Section under Bob Vavrek.

In 2007, Aaron began a Master's of Science program at the University of Minnesota. He studied the use of reflectance technology to detect and predict drought stress in creeping bentgrass fairways. Aaron also assisted with research on pesticide loss, pesticide efficacy, turfgrass varieties, and turfgrass breeding. Aaron was awarded with the 2007 Watson Award from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

After completing his Master's of Science Degree, Aaron worked for Spectrum Technologies, Inc. as a Green Industry Consultant. Aaron's primary role was to help turfgrass and landscape managers implement technology traditionally used by plant researchers. The technology Aaron worked with included weather stations, soil moisture sensors, salinity measurement instruments, compaction meters, and reflectance sensors. Aaron also participated in product development, including working on a green speed meter, soil moisture sensor, and reflectance meter.

Aaron recently left Spectrum Technologies, Inc. to move back to Minnesota and pursue new opportunities. Aaron looks forward to bringing the wealth of knowledge he has gained in these experiences to each and every client.
